Illness whilst boarding

Helpful Tips on preparing for your cat’s stay with us:

Planning
- Check your vaccination records and make sure that your cat has been vaccinated for Flu and Enteritis within the last 12 months
- If your cat is due a booster vaccination please ensure this is done at least one week before boarding.
- If you have misplaced your vaccination record please contact your Veterinary Practice for a duplicate.
- Make sure that you bring your vaccination records to the Cattery.
- For the safety of all our boarders we will only admit cats with an up-to-date vaccination certificate.

Transporting your cat
- Keep your cat indoors prior to its stay with us. Cats have an uncanny way of knowing what’s going on and are prone to ‘go missing’
- Have a suitable transport carrier. It can be extremely dangerous should your cat get loose in the car.
- Place newspaper in the carrier in case of accidents!
- Do not feed for several hours before traveling if your cat is prone to car sickness.

Health and medication
- We cannot accept cats suffering from or suspected to be suffering from any infectious disease.
- All cats are examined on arrival and our staff will refuse admission if there are signs of ill health, pending advice from our Veterinary Surgeon. Owners appreciate that this is essential to safeguard the health of all cats boarded.
- Please inform us if your cat has any health problems (non infectious) and if it has any medication. Please bring any medication with you, ensuring that it is clearly labeled so that we may administer it properly.

Diet
- Most diets are catered for.
- We endeavour to feed, where practical, as near to your cat’s home diet as possible, to avoid any tummy upsets.
- Veterinary prescription diets can also be catered for.

Kittens and older cats are fed according to their special requirements.
